Oral Sedation
SERVICES » Oral Sedation
Conscious sedation utilizes an oral sedative. It allows a child to relax (anxiolysis) and helps them not remember (anterograde amnesia) too much about the dental appointment. The child remains conscious, awake, alert and responsive. The sedative is often used in conjunction with laughing gas. After treatment, the child may be uncoordinated and overly emotional, but will usually recover within 2-4 hours.
